Team Safariland: Scott Carnahan

What makes a great competitor? Are some people just born that way? If anyone’s got the racing gene, it has to be Scott Carnahan, Safariland’s Team Captain and VP of our Duty Gear Category.

Carnahan has competed at a professional or elite level in so many sports it’s hard to believe he’s just one guy! Consider the list: golf, go-kart racing, mountain bike racing, waterskiing (slalom and trick), moto-cross, and shooting.

A few highlights include being a three-time USPSA National Class Champion, competing in the first Supercross race at Anaheim Stadium, ranking 15th in the Western US for both Slalom and Trick waterskiing, winning his age group at the 2013 Hell Fire Fat Tire at Camp Pendleton, winning Club Champion at his golf club and playing on the Scratch Amateur Tour ranking 4th in Southern California.

So what’s his secret? Is it all good luck in the athletic genetic lottery? Not if you ask Carnahan. There’s more to it than simply turning up and toeing the start line. There’s commitment. And sacrifice. Since 1985, we’ve been very fortunate to have him lead our Safariland professional shooting team, to inspire by example, and share his knowledge and experience on how to be a world-class competitor.
